We believe that a horse should live as close to a natural life as possible.

Let your horse be a horse!”

Our Philosophy:

Natural boarding, simply put, means your horse is free to socialize, play and bond in a herd experience. We have created an environment, as close as we can, to the way horses would “naturally” spend their time. Lucky Stars was founded by a horse lover for horse lovers! With over 50 years of experience, we have developed a deep understanding of what good horse-life looks like. We’ve also got a feel for what doesn’t work, for the horse.

It’s not natural for a horse to live in a small pen, by themselves. Even if they have another horse in the next pen, it’s just not the same. Horses, in a herd, can run when they’re happy, playful or excited. They share food, understand respect for the herd leader and nap together. This is incredibly important for herd animals, as they can socialize and look out for one another, much like a family. This gives your horse a superior quality of life. The negative symptoms of stall life simply don’t exist (psychological problems such as cribbing, weaving and pacing.)

At Lucky Stars Barn, we believe that good horse management has four basic elements:

1) Happy, relaxed horses. 2) Reliable staff. 3) Clean and safe facility. 4) Affordable prices.

Our boarders have confidence that every horse is given attention, tender care and respect. Our rates are reasonable and we strive to provide a well maintained, peaceful place for you to enjoy the times you spend with your horse.

Our Hay

We purchase our hay from a very high quality supplier that we have developed a good business relationship with. We know the quality of their hay and it is the overall best, most consistent hay we can buy. We pay for premium hay because we feel the health of the horse is worth the extra cost. We’ve learned the importance of this through years of experience.

Herd Enclosures

Herd size is limited. Our herds are limited to five or six horses, depending on how they get along. This allows the horses to bond without being overwhelmed by too many horses. A natural hierarchy develops, which allows for a feeling of companionship and safety. It also removes the competition for food.

Each enclosure is large with plenty of room for the horses to run. Between the herds, we feature poly-coated fencing with wooden posts, to keep every horse safe.

Each enclosure has its own automatic (and heated) waterer. All enclosures have access to a smaller pen and stall to separate your horse when needed, without having to go to the main barn.

We have a separate senior herd enclosure, with a large barn.

Two enclosures have metal shelters with kick-panels. One enclosure is a natural area with two rows of mature Junipers for cover, and tall Cottonwoods for additional shade.
